About the Practice
Typically, when we experience situations where we feel unsafe, our nervous system becomes flooded. This can lead to fragmented memories of our suffering, leaving us feeling lost and disconnected from ourselves, our lives, and our loved ones.
Painful experiences can often feel too overwhelming to revisit, yet ignoring them seems to just make them stronger. YourStory reminds us that healing is not only possible, it’s attainable. Through an integrative approach, our practice offers a balanced way to help you reclaim your life story, honoring moments of strength, joy, and support while holding space for experiences of grief, pain, and shame.
Fragments of memories are woven together and carefully pieced together into cohesive narrative - your story. Doing so can reduce the intensity of symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares, depression, or anxiety, and open the door to more connection—with yourself, with others, and with the world around you.
Your story matters - let’s walk through it together
Meet the Therapist
Hi, I’m Jyotsna, pronounced like “joe-tsnuh.” I am truly honored to be a part of your healing journey.
I founded YourStory because I believe that everyone deserves to have their story heard. One of the most painful parts after experiencing a trauma is feeling so alone and isolated from the rest of the world, and I want people to know

Jyotsna obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University, where she was also clinically trained in Narrative Exposure Therapy. She currently holds her license in Wisconsin as a Licensed Professional Counselor-In Training (License # 7953-226) and is supervised under Tamara McDowell, LPC (License # 5128-125).
As a counselor, Jyotsna brings warmth, compassion, and openness into the therapeutic space. With a deeply-rooted belief in the inherent worth of every being, she engages participants with respect and non-judgement. She also understands that mental wellness is connected to many areas of one’s life and, therefore, engages in therapy that is attuned to one’s mind, body, spirit, and cultural environment. Jyotsna has worked with participants across the lifespan in various settings, where she has helped people work toward building hope, developing a strong sense of authentic self, and connecting meaningfully with others.
